Qualification

Step one, do you qualify? I read online, I actually just found it again in this book: Dual Nationality in the European Union "... the Italian Ministory of Foreign Affairs that there were 60 million people of Italian decent living around the world in 1994, estimate that at least 30 million of them can prove their Italian descent, and thus have an Italian nationality which only needs to be 'revived'.". If you know that you have Italian heritage, the odds aren't too bad that you qualify.

This all started with me when I heard a rumor that you can purchase property in Italy for 1 euro (not entirely true, click the link for more info)! So I was watching YouTube videos trying to find info and this video came up was a video going through whether you qualify for dual Italian citizenship:

I have a family member who had been doing genealogy for our family for many years tell me a few times before that my great grandfather on my father's side was from Italy. While listening to this video in the background, my mind was piecing it together and I thought I might qualify. Then I can buy a house for a dollar.

I started googling further and found a tool online that goes through the various laws by asking you questions and then tells you whether you qualify or not:

It will also show a flowchart at the end to show the logic behind the questions. This was put together by the dual Italian citizen group on Facebook which is great, if you use Facebook. I do not, Facebook is the devil.
